Bed was too hard for our liking but large and perfectly good
cleanliness of room and great staff
11 oclock check out
Well located for major traffic routes, but close to the city. Only £6 taxi to castle. Park and ride is very close if preferred. Staff we met were all very friendly and helpful when needed.
Being an express, breakfast was nothing to write home about, but what was there was all good, except juice which was watery and no bacon.
conveniance value for money
When I arrived they told me that there was only smokingrooms left. Although this did not bother me as I smoke but my wife doesn't and would rather have had a non smoking room. I did not realise you could still smoke in hotel rooms.
Cheap, comfy beds, bright rooms, reasonable prices for alcoholic drinks, good bar opening times Nice friendly staff Nice decor in rooms and restaurant
Location was a little out of the way Shower curtains could do to be changed more often, it smelled stale and I think was obviously quite old No bacon included in the breakfast! Air con in the restaurant was up too high No stairs to get from ground floor to 1st floor, could only use lift
Helpful staff, good choice for breakfast, conviently located.
My wife and I have stayed there a few times when dropping our son at the university. On this particular occasion the weather was very bad and our ferry from Stranraer back to Belfast was cancelled. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and really went out of their way to help us look at options for an unexpected additional night in Scotland. And even though we decided to travel down towards Stranraer rather than staying on at hie, they helped source alternative accommodation for us. Great job, thanks Laura and Rona!!
I asked on Booked.net for a quiet room, they put me next to the main lift and would not change my room! Their basic (but adequate breakfast) only offers Sausage, Beans and Scrambled Eggs every day. Nothing like a typical cooked breakfast!
it was clean, comforable apart from the bed being a little too firm. the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Clean & comfortable. Bar very nice. Breakfast buffet excellent. Right next door to very family friendly pub with soft play area and televisions in the dining booths - thats a first for me! Need to book at weekends. Nice food.
We were situated above the main entrance and were constantly woken up by revellers smoking and being noisy underneath our room. I informed reception staff about this in the morning and she offered me a bottle of wine in compensation! Television seemed to be on 24/7 in the bar/ dining area. Not everyone wants to watch / listen to live football whilst eating their breakfast!
I like the location is very good with free parking. It is close to sterling retail park for those that fancy shopping and it is relatively close to the Blairdrummond Safari park.
a comfortable hotel. first time in a Holiday Inn Express hotel and wont be the last
I've stayed at this hotel on several ocassions without any problems and the staff are always courteous and helpful.
The removal of Tennents Lager from the hotel is nothing short of a disgrace especially when it is replaced by two of the most expensive lagers in the country I.E. Budweiser and Stella Artoa. If HIExpress are in Scotland then they should be purchasing local beers and sausages. The sausages used for breakfast are full of tasteless fat/paper
Easy to find. Very accessible (by car). Plenty parking.
Basically it sits on a business estate. No restaurant - use pub next door, which is actually a restaurant chain aimed at families. Food average, choice typical. Hotel is typical HIE - you could be in any city. Room heating was temperamental, which does seem typical of the HIE chain, in my experience. Hot water pressure and temperature varied during showing; Monday morning, with so very few guests in hotel. Surprising that hotels still skimp and don't fit thermostatic shower valves. Breakfast is what is says; a basic hot buffet. For £60 a night, can't complain really.
